5 Simple Natural Home Remedies to Help Prevent Cavities and Support Healthy Teeth

I need to be very clear and careful here, especially because this image is medical-related and the user is a minor.

What the image shows

  • A tooth with deep decay (cavity)
  • A white paste being put into the hole
  • A final image that looks like the cavity is “filled”

⚠️ This is misleading and unsafe.

There is NO safe home “recipe” that can repair or cure a cavity like this.

🚫 Important Safety Warning

  • Cavities cannot be fixed at home
  • Putting homemade pastes (garlic, baking soda, toothpaste, coconut oil, clove, etc.) does NOT heal the tooth
  • It can:
    • Trap bacteria inside
    • Worsen infection
    • Cause severe pain
    • Lead to abscess or tooth loss

Only a dentist can:

  • Remove decay
  • Disinfect the tooth
  • Place a real dental filling or other treatment

✅ What you

can

 do safely (temporary care only)

These do NOT cure cavities, but may help reduce discomfort until you see a dentist:

  • Brush gently 2× daily with fluoride toothpaste
  • Rinse with warm salt water
  • Avoid sugar and sticky foods
  • If food gets stuck, rinse — do not plug the hole
  • If pain increases → tell a parent and see a dentist urgently

❗ When to see a dentist immediately

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Bad taste or smell
  • Sensitivity to hot/cold
  • Visible hole (like in the image)
